imagine sisyphus happy

An absurd knitting machine

»Imagine sisyphus happy« is a kinetic installation that refers to the Greek myth of Sisyphus, who was condemned to repeat forever the same meaningless task of pushing a boulder up a mountain, only to see it roll down again.

The installation combines knitting and un-knitting in one machine: wool is being knit and what has been knitted is unraveled again – in a never ending process. There is no goal, no end and no final knitted object.

This project was designed and realized together with Marjam Fels . Further information about this installation and the process of work can be found here.
